Moms Organization Wants Gun Ban in Kroger

A Moms organization that was successful in getting Chipotle, Chili’s and Target to make a stance against carrying guns called upon Kroger on Monday to do the same.

The group, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, is requesting the chain of grocery stores to ban all guns from its supermarkets.

The demand has come after a woman in a Kroger parking lot in Georgia fatally shot her husband before turning the gun on herself in June.

There were other incidents that were related to guns regarding Kroger as well, said the organizations in a press release.

In many states, including in Georgia, it is legal to openly carry a gun.

Kroger is one of the country’s largest chains of supermarkets. The company has more than 2,642 grocery stores and close to 1,000 convenience locations.

The advocacy group for gun control was founded following the school shooting in Sandy Hook and has partnered with two billionaires Warren Buffett and Michael Bloomberg.

The group has enjoyed a great deal of success in its past gun control campaigns. This past May, Chipotle, Sonic and Chili’s restaurants all folded under the intense pressure of the public and asked their customers not to enter their establishments with guns. In July, Target agreed to do the same.

Kroger has its own gun policy that is posted on its Internet site on the carrying of firearms by its customers in all its stores.

While the policy does not specifically request that customers stop bringing guns into its stores, it requests that they follow all local and state laws and remain respectful of others who are at the stores shopping.

There have been a number of shooting incidents in public locations including schools, stores, cinemas and offices that have killed a number of innocent victims and put the lives of many others in danger.
